Job Description

Responsible for environmental service functions and providing daily work direction to staff on assigned shift. As a working lead, helps maintain a clean and sanitary environment and clean, sanitary linen supplies throughout the Hospital. Functions under the direction of the ES Supervisor and within departmental policies and procedures.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School/GED. Able to read and write and possess basic math skills. Verbal ability necessary to discuss assignments with co-workers, in training new employees, and to demonstrate new techniques and equipment. Numerical ability is necessary to measure ingredients, to determine appropriate wash formulas, to teach dilution ratios, to record data, to complete requisition forms and to participate in preparation of annual budgets. Additional courses in management, communication, infectious/hazardous waste and PC applications preferred. Must have the ability to plan, organize and lay out work assignments and must have a genuine interest in working with people in order to direct, instruct and maintain harmony among workers. Ability to communicate in writing is essential when documenting recommendations to Administration and other departments.

Training and Experience: Previous hospital laundry/housekeeping experience required. Demonstrated ability to provide effective training to others re: ES tasks and responsibilities. Experience operating industrial vacuums, floor scrubbers and floor buffers preferred. Experience with commercial washers and dryers preferred.

Shift: Full Time, M-F, 8 Hour Shifts

SALARY: $14.85 - $18.72/hour DOE
